Academic Offerings
Conway Regional Rural Training Track program faculty are fully committed to fostering a high-quality learning environment for residents. Family Medicine Didactics are presented and based on an 18 month, rotating curriculum design, ensuring over the course of three years, each resident has the opportunity to review and learn new details about the conditions for which they will treat patients.
Residents from each training year will generally be in each of the conferences, although some may be presented to a specific PGY year, depending on identified learning needs. Noon conferences will be presented three days per week, with one afternoon designated as protected time for additional didactics.
Teaching and learning opportunities will also include procedural workshops, simulations, and case report discussions. Presenters will include the core faculty of the Rural Training Track program, as well as the engaged medical staff from a variety of subspecialties. Additional expertise is drawn from the Conway area community for seminars on diversity and inclusion, cultural competencies for care, and other relevant topics that may be valuable as a future leader in medicine. Various members of the multi-disciplinary team are also included in these lectures and seminars, including pharmacists, therapists, and nursing staff.
In our program, residents will have the opportunity to teach students and colleagues during conferences, as well as during Morbidity and Mortality conferences and our monthly journal clubs. Our didactic curriculum includes the following subject areas:

The didactic conferences will be held at either Conway or Dardanelle and there will be virtual connections to both locations.
Residents in the Dardanelle program will be active participants in the presentation of materials including case conferences in the first year, mortality and morbidity conferences, as well as other lectures as directed.

At the clinic, we are committed to providing high-quality, personalized care for all our patients. Residents will practice primary care under the supervision of board-certified physicians, alongside interdisciplinary team members to provide quality team-based care.
To support the culture of scholarship, the resident will approach patient care with a spirit of inquiry that will last an entire career. The goal is for the resident to broaden their skills in scholarship including critical review of literature, evidence-guided medicine, research methodology, data analysis, and scientific writing. Resident scholarly activity will be written publications and presentations at scientific meetings, Journal Clubs, and Mortality & Morbidity conferences at Conway Regional.
Residents will work collaboratively with members of the teaching faculty during their scholarly pursuits. If accepted, residents will be supported by the program and by Conway Regional to develop oral presentations, posters, or workshops in the local, regional, and national arenas. In the first year of training, residents will be engaged in quality improvement, patient safety, and research initiatives in collaboration with teaching faculty.
Scholarly activity is a requirement for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The expectation is that residents will submit a poster presentation, abstract, or journal article for publication or complete a 30-60-minute presentation to their peers and faculty by the end of the second year of training. Additional interest in research or scholarly activity is encouraged but not required.
